Photo A Day: 4/16 — “My Favorite Color”

I really like all colors — they all have a certain dynamic in their own rite. I have, however, always favored purple since I was a little girl.

Like all colors, I love all their shades. Purple is no exception. I hope today’s instagram post shows that. Also, the train that takes me to my home sweet home is via the purple line…so, it kind of just came together for me today. Enjoy and please play along. Tomorrow’s prompt is: “busy”.

April photo a day: 4/15 — “alone”

Every morning I wake up early because I’m the one who starts work the earliest… usually. I get to enjoy the morning silence and the sounds of waking up by myself with a cup of coffee.

April photo a day. 4/14:Water

I’ve been slacking y’all. But, I did get a pic for water. Yesterday was a beautiful Sunday,  and my guy and I were out and about.  We were really close to the lake. Here it is:

April Photo A Day: 4/6 — “Air”

I can’t remember the first game I listened to — if I was listening with my father in the car or if I tuned in myself, but listening to baseball on the air is quite possibly my favorite way to catch a baseball game…particularly when the Milwaukee Brewers are playing. I am definitely a fan, and it is sometimes hard to be a Brewers fan without cable and living in Chicago. I don’t always get to listen let along watch. The internet isn’t always forgiving either if I have to pay to watch the game.

Well, today my boyfriend and I had off, and we walked past a second hand store that just happened to have a variety of AM radios. They’re ridiculous alongside my smartphone and laptop. Plus they remind me of my grandfather’s garage — sometimes a game would be on, but it was mostly country tunes while he tinkered (his word) with the car. Funky as they are, they do work.

NOW, I know that not everyone enjoys baseball…and I challenge those that have only watched a game on T.V. Because honestly it’s not the most exciting way to enjoy it if you mildly like baseball. If you don’t like it at all, well then, I probably won’t change your mind either way about radio just being better. But, it also helps a lot that Bob Uecker is Mr. Baseball. One can’t help but get excited about what’s happening. He’s a legend in baseball and radio broadcasting. He’s also older, and I can’t help but be caught in the frenzy of his joy when an amazing play is happening; it’s because he doesn’t hold back. What kind of young whippersnapper would I be if I didn’t “Get up. Get out. GONE!” every time one of the Brewers hits a homerun?

Anyway, I’m listening to a game now, and I’m all smiles. Spring is in the air, baseball season has begun, and my Brewers are on the radio. Life is good.

 

April photo a day: 4/5 — Something good

I worked a 10 hour day today at the preschool.  It most certainly warranted a glass of sweet, girly, fruity wine.  It was very good and very “necessary”

April Post A Day: 4/4 — “This Happened Today…”

I’ve been having a fight with the CTA for the past couple of weeks with construction and me just trying to figure out how to make all my connections without arriving too early or too late. I am already gone from my house for almost 12 hours a day, so I’m not really looking to get to work SUPER early, but I don’t like being late either. Well, today, I arrived with a few minute to spare. Just enough time to take a deep breath before all chaos ensued. Today was fantastically crazy and I’m glad it’s over, but hey, I was early. That actually happened  today.

April Photo A Day: April 3rd — Something With “A”

So, I was at a loss today. I mean, lots of things start with “A” and working with pre-schoolers, this should be too easy, right? Ugh, well today, all of our kids were on an extended Easter candy sugar rush, plus we had a full classroom (Twenty 3-5 y/o) with kids running all over the place. So I kind of put my personal fun on the back burner today and went into “crisis” mode often by breaking up fights, finding pink crayons that MUST be had in order to make the picture “perfect”, stopping children from stealing each other’s food, and helping others work through their time-out sessions. Needless-to-say, I just didn’t get around to the photo nor felt much inspiration to brainstorm something more clever.

Thankfully I can home to dinner already made. Nothing with “A” though.  Then later,  we took a walk to get some emergency staple groceries before the weekend, so as I was walking, I was running words through my head about what would be a cool picture of something with “A”…and given last minute, I got a shot of the alley near our grocery store.

There isn’t anything fancy about this alley or any alley I suppose, but I guess what’s interesting is that taking a picture of an alley is something that I would normally do, let alone look all the way down an alley. There are some I just won’t look down because I’m afraid of what I’ll see, and other times I just don’t have time to look. They’re also nothing fancy too look at in general. But here is one, in all of it’s…glory?  Here’s to a better idea tomorrow.
